And the Search continues..

As you might have observed that I haven’t posted on this blog since April. The reason behind this is my big step in a new chapter in my life. You need a little background to understand this and trust me it is going to seem very familiar. As like any other average student, I was not so sure about which graduation stream I wanted to join after 10th. So with my middle class mentality of being in safe industry made me enrol in a nearest government engineering college in IT stream. I was excited to start my new life there. I scored nice percentage throughout but I never felt the passion for software engineering. I completed my engineering and was placed in a big MNC as a software engineer even before completing graduation. I was very happy to get into a nice job with decent salary but I was still not sure if this is what I wanted to do as my career. I joined the company and first few days were magical. I was financially independent and living in the most happening city in the country. I put my efforts to learn things and prove my calibre. But as time passed, I realised that even this is not what is making me satisfied in my life. I was working for the sake of being employed. Soon I realised that I need to move on and search for another option in career. And as it is very wisely said “The first step towards getting somewhere is to decide that you are not going to stay where you are”.  Once again I was on an eternal search of career that will make me satisfied and a life worth living for. Still confused and surrounded with MBA aspirants, I decided to pursue MBA. Hence began the quest of searching the best MBA courses, their respective entrance exams and last but not least preparation needed for these ever competitive exams. Working for 10 hours a day in office, seeing others going onsite or for MBA or getting married, we start feeling that world is running ahead of us and we are stuck somewhere. Finally with the help of friends who always been there for me, family that always believed in me and someone who always made me feel that nothing is impossible, I landed up in one of the most prestigious MBA colleges in India. It was like a dream coming true for me. I never would have thought that someday I would be studying here in my dream land. I have reached here and started my story on a new page. I hope at least now I will get something that I am looking for a long time. Nevertheless, I won’t forget the most inspiring speech by Steve Jobs at Stanford Graduation Commencement event.
“Never settle down till you find your passion. Never think that whatever you are learning will go in vain. You can always connect the dots in future. But you can’t connect the dots forward. You can only connect the dots backwards. Hence, trust yourself and go for it. Stay hungry, stay foolish.”

The "Routine"

While watching the episode called “Exploding meatball sub” from my favourite series “How I met your mother”, I came across an interesting term called “Graduation goggles”. This refers to the phenomenon of our attitude towards the ”Routine” in our college. How much ever you hate the problems you faced with seniors, the studies and all other irritating things. The moment you realise that these are last few days in college, we start liking all those things which we used to hate.  While being a part of a routine, we mostly hate it because its routine and we yearn for a change. But as soon as we get to know that something is going to change in our mundane routine, we start liking it more than ever.  As a matter of fact, Change is only thing in the world which is permanent; still we never really want to change anything. We are so used to it that deep down in our heart we have a special space for our boring but usual Routine. I am witnessing the feeling right now with my “Office goggles” and I can tell you that it’s so true..

Mild reminder: Resolution called Life

Reading, like millions of other people, is my favourite pastime and it can be literature in any form like a magazine, a book, a newspaper or a blog. But writing is an art and you need to earn it. Like a majority of people, I am also bad at putting my thoughts in words and really appreciate those people who can convey their feelings or thoughts by putting them on a piece of paper. As it always happens, we feel to write about something but never really come across a subject to start with and then we drop the idea of writing, crossing ‘the Writing’ off the list of ‘Stuff I am gonna do’. I also dropped the idea of writing a few times but then I thought about the ‘Mild Reminder’, the blog you are about to read, and inspired me to give it a shot. So Here I am, writing my first blog ever, trying to put my thoughts in the words. Hope it makes sense…

Mild reminder: Resolution called Life

Human being is, a hopelessly hopeful ;) animal on the planet earth. With 31st December approaching, he recalls about the past year, the unforgettable moments he got that year, the moments that took his breath away, the happy moments, the disappointments, the achievements, the losses, the ups and the downs and then comes the ‘Wish list’ for the next year. He recalls about the resolutions he made last year and then leaving them on the 2nd week of January itself. He feels bad because he could not show perseverance in following those resolutions. But he has not lost his hopes. He will again make the resolutions next year. He will again decide to go to gym regularly. He will again decide to quit smoking. He will again decide to learn dancing or music. He will be hopelessly hopeful again. But why do we need only 31 December for this moment to realise that he can start again to achieve his target. Let’s start it today. Let’s not wait for another year and then again make resolutions. Let’s start implementing them right away. We all have the busy schedules, the long working days and then the boring weekends spent at home after being tired entire week. We keep thinking that this is the time to put efforts to get a bright future and we will get our chance to enjoy our life later. Of course this is true and but we forget that while we keep rubbing our butts to reach our goals life is still going on. As it is wisely said by John Lennon, ‘Life is what happens to you
While you're busy making other plans.’
Life never pauses for someone to give him a break to enjoy. We need to steal those moments from life. So let’s take out some time for ourselves and start doing the things right now. Let’s start going to gym and build the fitness. Let’s quit smoking or any other bad habits we wanted to get rid of. Let’s go out for treks and hikes and be close to the nature. Let’s take out some time and give it back to the society where we belong. Let’s start learning the things we always wanted to learn, let it be cooking or painting or photography or just praying. Let’s fill our life with the colours we like. Let’s start living our life right this moment and what can be the best suitable time to start than a weekend. So let’s just stop thinking and start doing…

P.S.: Do not forget to give me feedback about the blog and I would think that it was worth writing this much if each one of you at least try and start doing the things you like, just for you.

“A night to remember”

On 8th Feb, just in a casual talk with a friend, I got to know about the Bryan ADAMS Live in Concert in Mumbai on 12th Feb and that they had planned to go for the show. Unfortunately one of my friends got an emergency the day before show and could not attend the show. So I got the chance to get that ticket and attend the show. Though I have heard a few of Bryan Adams famous songs before, I have never been a huge fan of him. So I never thought that I would go for concert of Rock music but it was an opportunity to experience something different. So I decided to go for the show. The show was at 6 but we reached there 1 hour before to get a nice place to sit. To our surprise, there were no chairs to sit. We were supposed to stand for the entire time. We were waiting for almost an hour and I started losing interest. I thought how am I gonna stand there for next 2 hours. Then suddenly the band came to the stage and started with a song from their new album. Suddenly the atmosphere changed and ecstasy started taking over the tiredness. One after another, he started throwing musical shower on us. He enthralled us with the all-time hits like “Cuts like a knife”, “I am ready”, “Back to you”, “Summer of 69”, “Run to you”, “I ll always be there”, “Please forgive me”, “18 till I die” and the list goes on. And we all were almost on the CLOUD 9. Everybody was singing along with him, may be even remembering the sweet memories they had with those songs. I was making my own memories with those songs.

One thing that amazed me the most was that guy, can call him God of Rock, Bryan Adams, 52 year old rock star who performed entire show of 2 hours continuously except small breaks just to drink water. At that age, that man was performing with this much energy and spirit, made me thinks how lethargic we are in our twenties. He made a crowd of 15000 to sweep off their feet. He interacted with the audience very well and even invited one girl to sing with him on stage. I bet that everyone, including me, envied herJ. Bryan Adams was one of the magicians and the other one was the bass guitarist, Norman Fisher. The whole band and the chemistry between them are beyond my criticism. They spellbinded us with the magic of music and we didn’t even realise how fast the time passed and Suddenly 2 hours were over. We made him sing one more song before leaving. Then he took his masterpiece out of the magic box. He played guitar along with mouth organ and sang a song. Truly astonishing.. Hats off to that guy!!We left the place only after making sure that he had officially left the buildingJ.

At that night, that great Canadian rock star introduced me to the World of Rock music. And “Here I am” feeling lucky for myself for attending that magical show or I would not have even understood what have I missed.

TO BLOG or NOT TO BLOG is the question..
